Bunker Survey at Lome Port
Bunker quantity established independently at delivery, on hire, off hire and ROB, with sampling and temperature correction.

Fuel is usually the largest single variable cost on a voyage, and the quantity delivered is the number most often disputed. A bunker delivery note is a supplier's claim, not an independent measurement, and the gap between the two is where quantity disputes live.
Marine Surveys Africa attends bunker operations for owners, charterers and traders, covering bunker delivery surveys, quantity surveys, remaining on board assessments and on and off hire figures. We gauge or sound every tank before and after, take temperatures throughout, and apply volume correction properly rather than accepting the barge figure.
Representative samples are drawn and sealed in the presence of both parties, which is what makes a later quality claim arguable at all. A dispute over off-specification fuel with no properly witnessed sample is usually a dispute that cannot be won.

How we work
- 01
Pre-delivery gauging
All receiving tanks sounded or gauged and temperatures taken before the hose is connected, with the barge figures noted separately.
- 02
Sampling
Representative samples drawn continuously through the transfer and sealed in the presence of both parties, with retained samples signed for.
- 03
Post-delivery gauging
Tanks re-gauged on completion, temperatures retaken, and volumes corrected to standard temperature before any figure is agreed.
- 04
Reconciliation
Vessel figure compared against the bunker delivery note, and any difference recorded with the master and the barge before departure.
