ISM, ISPS and MLC compliance is audited by someone eventually. The only question is whether that someone works for you or for the port state, and whether the finding is a corrective action or a detention.
Marine Surveys Africa carries out internal audits and pre-inspection reviews against all three conventions. We audit the system as it is actually operated on board, not as the manual describes it, because that is the gap a port state control officer looks for first.
Findings come with the corrective action and the evidence needed to close them out, and we cover the crew-facing side of MLC properly: hours of rest records, contracts, wages and living conditions, which are the most common detainable deficiencies in this region.
